SW 63rd Street and SW 185th Way Drainage Project: The Town was awarded a grant from the State of Florida for a drainage improvement along SW 63rd Street from SW 184th Avenue canal to the canal just west of SW 188th Avenue. Construction will commence in 2023.

SW 164th Terrace Drainage Project: The Town was awarded a grant from the State of Florida for a drainage improvement along SW 164th Terrace. Construction will commence in 2023.

Stormwater Master Plan: The Town has been awarded a $250,000 grant to develop a Stormwater Master Plan (SWMP) from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity’s Rebuild Florida General Planning Support Program. The RFP award is on the July 14th Town Council agenda for approval. Public meetings will occur to get resident input.

Roadway Improvements
Transportation Surface and Drainage Ongoing Rehabilitation Program (TSDOR): Resurfacing of Carlyn Lane, SW 128th Avenue, SW 130th Avenue, SW 52nd Street, SW 133rd Avenue, Lupo Lane, and Holatee Trail (from Stirling Road to Old Sheridan Street) is completed.

Transportation Surface and Drainage Ongoing Rehabilitation Program (TSDOR) Future Construction: Design plans are underway for the next group of roads on the TSDOR plan: SW 162nd Avenue, SW 163rd Avenue, SW 49th Street from SW 163rd Avenue to the dead end, SW 53rd Street from SW 163rd Avenue to SW 162nd Avenue, and SW 164th Terrace. This totals 3.37 miles of roadway.
TSDOR Study: A purchase order was issued for Kimley Horn and Associates to begin pavement analysis on the Town’s roads for future resurfacing.
Hancock Road Guardrails: Construction of guardrail along Hancock Road from Griffin Road to Stirling Road is complete and grant reimbursement is underway.

Other Improvements
American Rescue Act Plan: Staff is developing the program to receive maximum dollars from the American Rescue Act Plan. Council has prioritized the following list of projects: Emergency Operations Center Land Purchase and Design Plans, Southwest Meadows Sanctuary Restroom and Parking Facilities, Dykes Road Piping, Internet Fiber to Town Hall, Town Hall Safety Improvements, and an Online Permitting Kiosk. A Request for Qualifications has been advertised for architects and engineers that meets the federal requirements so the Town can begin design of the construction projects.
