The Southwest Ranches Volunteer Fire Rescue Department is an integral part of the Emergency Services provided within the Town. The Department currently staffs a three-person engine company 24/7 for an immediate response and also maintains specialized fire apparatus to respond to other emergencies within the community. The Department takes an active role in working closely with Town Administration to provide the most efficient and cost effective means of mitigating incidents.
Fire Chief Lee Bennett leads a team of volunteer firefighters, who not only provide emergency response to incidents in Town, but also respond to all types of service calls for assistance. Furthermore, the Department responds to neighboring communities when requested to provide specialized emergency services such as large animal rescues, brush fire extinguishment, and K-9 search and rescue teams.
The Department maintains a close relationship with the Town’s Engineering Department to locate sites for new fire wells and maintain the existing fire well system. The Department, with the assistance of the Town of Davie Fire Prevention Bureau, conduct periodic inspections and testing of all fire wells to insure that each system will be available when needed.
The Department also represents a qualified pool of manpower that is ready to assist the Town during any natural disasters.
The Southwest Ranches Volunteer Fire Department hold several fundraising events throughout the year. Some events include BBQ’s and the Holiday Santa Run which has become a tradition that our residents look forward to each year. We all thank you for your continued support and it is an honor to serve all of you.
The department has also created a Reflective Address Marker Program, to help identify homes in the Ranches from a distance in the dark.
